7 Ways to Build Trust on Pinterest and Grow Your Blog and Business

Just like your social media accounts, you will need to take the time to build the trust of your followers and others on Pinterest. You do that by being consistent, honest and helpful. If you do this, your Pinterest experience will be very positive and can be profitable for your blog or business.

The main difference between those who are successful and those who aren’t is trust. People like to read blogs and buy from people whom they trust. Here are 7 ways you can build trust through Pinterest and gain more followers.

1. Update Regularly

Don’t put up 100 pins in one day. Instead space pins throughout the day so that they update slowly and steadily. Tailwind, a Pinterest pin scheduler that I use and love,  allows you to schedule your pins which makes it much easier then manually pinning all day and it will save you quite a bit of time. According to Pinterest, “Consistent, daily activity is better than a once a week flurry. We suggest saving 10-12 Pins per day, instead of 70 Pins once a week. The first 5 Pins you save each day will be prioritized for distribution. Save to the most relevant board first. Its okay to save a Pin to multiple boards, but save to the most relevant one first—that Pin will get distribution priority. Saving to irrelevant boards won’t help and may hurt the distribution of your Pins.”

2. Create Specific Boards

Creating Pinterest board categories can sometimes be difficult because some things overlap. But the more specific each board category can be, the more people will trust you when they click on a board and find what they’re looking for. Do not put pins in irrelevant boards as mentioned above.

3. Link Appropriately

When you pin anything, each pin should link back to your website or blog. Remember the goal is to have people click through to your site! So many times I go to repin a pin and there is no source url and so then I'm not able to pin it. That can cost you thousands of potential views.

4. Use the Right Keywords and Hashtags

Keywords are the key to success (no pun intended)!  Relevant keywords for your niche need to be used in your business name, profile description, board descriptions and pin descriptions. The use of hashtags will help on your pin descriptions. According to Pinterest,  "When a user searches a hashtag the freshest pins with that hashtag will appear at the top of the feed. When a user searches the same phrase without the hashtag, it will pull up the original search results page." KWFinder is a great online tool for finding keywords. 5. Fill in Descriptions Accurately

Don’t fabricate your descriptions with any false information. Be accurate to develop trust among your viewers. Once a reader sees false information you'll lose them as a potential follower. The more you deliver what they expect, the more trust that will build.

6. Build Relationships

Don’t forget to do more on Pinterest than post pins. Be sure to share other people’s pins to your audience when relevant. Comment, share and engage are what you should be doing to build relationships on Pinterest. Others will then reciprocate!

7. Use Group Boards Strategically

Contributing to group boards can help spread your expertise to thousands of more pinners. In addition, you can create your own group boards and invite others to share their pins on it.

Building trust takes time. It won’t happen overnight. So be patient and utilize the methods I’ve mentioned.
